Hillbrook Sustainability Day
We held a stand at the Hillbrook Sustainability Day in Enoggera and met a lot of lovely people. Thanks to everyone who showed interest and we hope we can help you!
The weather couldn't have been better. Andy, Bec and myself had a great time showing people what we have done and what we could do for them. We set up one of our hand-made raised beds, a tent with photos, design prints, fliers and business cards, and one of our top bar bee hives. We let people taste our suburban produced, delicious honey.
At 11am I ran a short presentation on natural bee keeping with the top bar bee hive. I explained how it works, the difference between top bar hives and the commercially used Langstroth hives, and the features of our design.
In addition to all this, we held a draw for a few prizes:
- W. Stevens from Ferny Grove won the jar of honey
- M. Heiner from Mitchelton won the seed potatoes
- Elizabeth from Enoggera won the beetroot and sugarsnap pea seeds
We will be contacting the winners and delivering their prizes shortly!
Special thanks to Marilena and Hillbrook for holding such a great event, giving us an awesome spot and making us feel welcome! Also thanks for Benarrawa for lending the tent, and Bec for her question answering and food bringing skills.
